Bride-to-be Workout Mix

The Best Songs for Your Wedding Workout

As wedding DJs we don’t tend to play music before the bid day.

But this is the time when lots of ladies are preparing for weddings this summer, and one of their first to-do list items slimming down for the pictures.

Brides magazine has put this together as a potential workout playlist. What do you think of it?

Kick things off with a deliciously sweet remix of Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” featuring Nicki Minaj who adds her signature fiery verses to spice up one of last year’s hottest pop tracks. Another duo we’re loving combines newcomers Hudson Thames and Oscar-nominated actress-turned-pop-star Hailee Steinfeld in the feel-good song “How I Want Ya.” Seriously, you’ll be singing along to the chorus the second you hear it.

We also incorporated our favorite house tracks that will totally get your blood pumping. Warm up to Apres’ original “Chicago” mix — a crescendoing dance track with an irresistible beat, perfect for a quick cardio session. Or if you’re looking for a mid-tempo track for tackling those weights, you’re going to love when Sam Smith teams up with Disclosure for the R&B-tinged, electronic hit “Omen.” The DJ duo also lended their dubstep sound to Lorde’s “Magnets” to create a dance-heavy track that’s guaranteed to keep your adrenaline rushing. DO NOT Play This Wedding Song. Seriously

NSFW – IF ASKED TO PLAY THIS FOR A WEDDING… JUST DON’T

A HUGE part of being a wedding DJs is knowing what NOT to play. This is one of those times.

We know how it is. There are hundreds of thousands of songs, and no matter how good you are, you can’t know them all.

You get a request from a wedding VIP like a groomsman or the bride’s brother or Grandpa Willy. Someone who gets priority ’cause they’re close to the newlyweds. And they really want you to play a song. They’re persistent. Maybe drunk. And the song’s title sounds innocuous enough — “Wedding Song” it’s called. By Jaray.

As a good DJ, you should ALWAYS listen to a song before playing it if you’re not sure what it is. Or, in this case, you can just take our advice.

Don’t Play it.

As wedding DJs, we get asked to play Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” a lot.

A LOT.

But, we’re suckers for a good choreographed group dance. So when we came across this one, we check it out.

The fact that their names a Gina and DJ didn’t hurt…
